Homecoming 2010

A couple weeks ago I was hanging out in the basement of Canwest Building interviewing some random Winnipeggers and some invited guests about who they would invite back to Manitoba for 2010. I edited all the interviews into five short videos and they are up on the Homecoming 2010 site now.

This is the same project where Shaw and Global came down to where we were and did news stories about it. I did an interview for Global and appeared on the evening news which only eight years earlier I was doing Chyron for. I totally stank up my interview and the clip they used was "..being a young person there's a lot of opportunities here." Good one Captain Obvious.

I did Chyron for the live news and sports casts, Variety Telethon, Goldeyes Baseball, Safeway Select Curling, Great Tastes of Manitoba, Festival of Lights Parade and probably a few other productions. The best part of the gig was watching NHL highlights from the Score to keep the NHL scores updated for when we did Sportline. Eventually I started leaving all my scoreboards blank until we went live to see how fast I could type in all the scores. No one knows I did that but it was a good time. All those years on a computer during high school paid off.

This is a Chyron - it's kinda like a Commodore computer looking thing but it can do some pretty cool things. I am pretty sure they are all in a dumpster somewhere.
